Hey hey, it’s the month of June, and that means we’re at the peak of durian season again. The time we have been waiting for is finally here!
Although the MCO had just been lifted, our love for The King of Fruits remain the same. The best part is, since we can’t go on durian buffets, a lot of sellers are now offering delivery services like this one from Penang.
However, as tasty as the golden fruit is, too much of it can make you fall really sick. You can either purchase fruit-flavoured snacks if your body can’t take the heat, or simply follow these tips beforehand:
1. Drink lots of water
Durian is a heaty fruit which can cause symptoms like sore throat. It is also high in glucose, which will cause your body to experience low hydration. To prevent that from happening, make sure you drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
2. Add some lemon into your water
Too much durian can cause bloating and can be very uncomfortable for some people. Lemon is good for your digestive system and can help get rid of the bloating
3. Eat vegetables after your buffet
Remember to add more green leafy vegetables in your diet after having a big durian buffet session. Durians can be quite high in cholesterol, hence, you need vegetables like kale to help lower it.
4. Have some mangosteens
Mangosteens have anti-inflammatory properties, a great fruit to have after consuming heaty stuff like durians. It’s also said to be effective in maintaining the body’s blood sugar levels.
5. Avoid oily food
You’ll want to avoid oily food for a while as the combination of durians and other high-calorie food may cause indigestion. You might also want to minimise the food portion of the subsequent meal, so you don’t put too much pressure on your digestive system.
Just remember that too much of anything is not good. So it’s important for you to eat moderately!
