6 Granola Hacks That Will Make Your Merdeka Weekend Extra Special

Granola is more than just a breakfast cereal, you can be creative and versatile in creating your own granola dish.

As our national day is around the corner, many of us prefer to stay at home and have a chill weekend with our family and friends.

You don’t have to step out of the house to buy your Netflix Marathon snacks.

Try this 6 granola hacks to make your Merdeka weekend extra special with your loved ones.

1. Peanut Ball Butter

It sounds complicated to make, however, I promise it’s not!


2 tbsp honey

4 tbsp peanut butter

2 cups granola

3 tbsp milk

Chocolate chips (optional)


1. Combine granola, chocolate chips, peanut butter, honey, and milk together in a bowl. Form into balls using your hands.

2. Arrange the balls on a baking sheet and freeze until set, about 1 hour. Then serve!

2. Homemade Granola Bar


2 cups granola

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/3 cup honey

1 tbsp vanilla extract



1. In a medium sized bowl, mix the peanut butter and honey and put it in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

2. Stir this mixture and add the granola in it. Mix till it is combined well.

3. Line an 8″ or 9″ tray with foil (lightly greased) and transfer this mixture in it.

4. Spread in an even layer. Refrigerate it f or at least 2 hours or until set. Then cut into squares. Then serve!

3. Nutty Smoothies


1 Banana

10 Strawberries (Frozen)

1 cup Soy milk

1/2 cup granola cereal

1 1/2 tbsp Sugar (optional)

1 tsp Vanilla extract (optional)


1. Place the ingredients in a blender and blend it on high until everything is smooth.

2. Garnish with granola and strawberries and serve!

4. Healthy Chicken Tenders


1 package Chicken (tenders)

2 Eggs

1 tsp ground mustard

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

2 cups granola cereal, finely crushed


1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet by coating it with cooking spray. (Or use non-stick baking mats.)

2. Place granola in a large ziptop bag and crush using a rolling pin or a heavy skillet.

3. Add in ground mustard, salt and pepper. Beat two eggs in a bowl. Place flour in a separate bowl.

4. Take one piece of chicken. Coat it with flour. Then dunk in egg mixture. Place in ziptop bag and shake until coated with crumbs. Place on prepared baking sheet.

5. Repeat with remaining chicken. (Optional: spray tops with cooking spray to get more browning).

6. Bake approximately 25 minutes (turning once) or until cooked through.

5. Grainy Apple Slices


2 apples sliced into, wedges

1/4 cup granola

1/4 cup peanut butter

1/4 tsp cinnamon (ground)

Chocolate syrup (optional)


1. Slice apples into 8-10 wedges

2. Top each piece evenly with peanut butter

3. Top peanut butter with granola and drizzle with chocolate syrup. Then serve!

6. Crunchy Cookie


3/4 cup melted butter

1/2 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 3/4 cup flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

2 cups granola


1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Melt butter and mix with sugar and brown sugar in large bowl until sugars are dissolved.

3. Add vanilla and egg and mix until thoroughly combined.

4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt.

5. Add dry ingredients to the bowl with the butter mixture.

6. Add granola and mix until a dough forms.

7. Drop by rounded tablespoonful onto a greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

8. Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350. Bake for 10 minutes for a chewier cookie and 12 minutes for a crunchy cookie and serve!
