While many eateries are struggling to stay afloat, recently, The BrickOven Café kickstarted its business in Laguna, Philippines — and they come with a good cause!
They serve you pizza in an eco-friendly way, in which the pizzas are packed in tampipi boxes, commonly used by Filipinos in the ancient times.
The best part is that customers are entitled with 5% discount for their next purchase of every pizza if they reuse the tampipi boxes.
How it all started
The BrickOven Café is co-founded by siblings, architect Dennise Jocel Porca and chef Dhon Jhon Porca.
The Porca siblings are inspired to build this café during the lockdown in Philippines caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
They are passionate to tackle the food supply especially during these unprecedented times, serving one TampiPizza at a time.
TampiPizza comes in 5 flavours to choose from: Hawaiian, Pepperoni, House Special (meat & vegetables), Bacon & Mushroom and Bacon & Fries.
It’s sustainable to the environment and the local community of weavers
You now can play your part in saving Mother Earth – replacing pizza cardboard boxes with tampipi boxes!
Tampipi boxes are reusable, further stepping up the game to reduce single-use packaging.
As you purchase TampiPizza, you also get to support local community of weavers in Laguna who are experienced in weaving sun-dried pandan leaves into tampipi boxes.
“The BrickOven Café comes just in time for our family in this pandemic,” said Kuya Henry with his family.
Time to book your 2021 holiday getaway (hopefully!) to Philippines and check out this café! 😉
