FROZEN is a popular ice cream store in Kuala Lumpur which specialises in artisanal ice cream creations, jointly created with MasterChef Australia’s Christy Tania.
The brand is known for featuring local flavours such as Yakult, Kaya Toast, Kueh Talam, Musang King and Earl Grey Tarik — but what caught our attention today is the newly added Petai Ice Cream flavour!
Why we love Petai
Known as bitter bean or stinky bean in english, petai has a rather peculiar smell, but tastes surprisingly good, especially when eaten with rice.
Petai beans are rich in fibre, iron, potassium and tryptophan — an amino acid that may help boost mood and sleep as well as lower blood pressure, sugar level, and decrease chances of cancer (!!).
Petai Ice Cream, Anyone?
As mentioned on Frozen’s website, “The pungent, but so delicious Malaysian specialty is now available as an ice cream. Guaranteed to satisfy every Petai-lover!”
The new flavour contains freshly chopped petai with Frozen’s best-selling Vanilla ice cream, which you can purchase by scoop or take a tub home (600ml/RM39.90).
(They sell ice cream cakes too, so you can probably custom order the petai flavour for your cake.)
Aside from that, Frozen also serves gourmet coffee and tea from TWG for customers to enjoy, but if you’re not a fan of tea, try these flavourful chewy mints instead!
